Bus Routemaster heritage routes

Two heritage routes are operating using historic Routemaster buses in central London.

Following replacement of the all Routemaster (the iconic old open platform buses) vehicles with modern low floor accessible vehicles, two "heritage" routes have been introduced using these buses in central London.

The last Routemaster bus ran on Route 159 between Marble Arch and Streatham in December 2005. TfL have now contracted out two heritage routes. The routes are:

  • Royal Albert Hall - Hyde Park Corner - Piccadilly Circus - Trafalgar Square - Strand - Aldwych
    (0930 - 1830, every 15 mins, mirroring part of existing route 9)
  • Piccadilly Circus - Trafalgar Square - Strand - Aldwych - Fleet Street - Cannon Street - Monument - Tower Hill
    (0930 - 1830, every 15 mins, mirroring part of existing route 15)

The two routes use the most recently refurbished Routemaster vehicles and accept standard Travelcards, Oystercards or cash fares.
